The investigation centered around 7 Jones St. in the Town of Poughkeepsie following numerous community complaints and reports of overdoses in the area. Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force agents soon began making controlled purchases of fentanyl and cocaine at the location, officials announced on Wednesday, March 5.
On Monday, March 3, agents arrested 35-year-old Joseph Napolitano after he allegedly sold fentanyl and cocaine to undercover officers on multiple occasions near the residence. Following his arrest, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, with help from Town of Poughkeepsie Police, executed a search warrant at the home, resulting in four additional arrests, according to the task force.
The individuals taken into custody include:
- Joseph Napolitano, 35, who was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was later arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and released while being ordered to report to probation;
- Atrayu Felix, 29;
- Shane Turner, 31;
- Jasmine English, 19;
- Robert Cann, 30.
Felix, Turne, and English were all wanted by New York State Police for narcotics-related offenses and turned over to NYSP after their arrests. Meanwhile, Cann was wanted by New York State Parole and taken to the Dutchess County Jail.
Officials said the Drug Task Force remains committed to targeting drug dealers who exploit vulnerable members of the community.
